Design Spotlight - Home Renovation

Updated: Oct 25, 2022

A historic home renovation can be a big undertaking but yields tremendous reward. This South Tampa home needed a full renovation to maximize its potential and bring in modern amenities.

After meeting with the client to understand their vision, our Ramos Design Build team designed plans to renovate the kitchen, bathrooms, laundry room, mudroom, and back patio. The client envisioned a contemporary style that balances and blends with the traditional and historical elements.

For the kitchen design, the owners wanted to open up the space as much as possible. To achieve this, the new design eliminates a secondary set of stairs and utilized the space gained to reconfigure the kitchen. They also integrated a walk-in pantry to the kitchen area for more storage and convenience. The new design improves the kitchen flow to allow for easier meal preparation and ample space for entertaining. The gorgeous design features colorful cabinets, brass accents, white backsplash tile and exposed brick detail.

For the bathroom component of this home renovation, a new full bathroom was added downstairs to provide easy access for guests. The contrast of the black and white design creates a bold, high-end look and a combination that never goes out of style. The floor tile pattern creates a vintage feel in the modern space.

The Ramos Design team also created a mudroom downstairs with French doors leading to a new patio in the backyard. The mudroom is a fantastic addition that provides more storage and organization to help declutter. The new room features an exposed brick accent wall and cream-colored cabinetry with a bench. The new back patio design mimics the front porch design to keep consistent with the historical style.

Originally, the laundry room was not located on the same floor as the bedrooms. As part of the remodel and redesign, they relocated the laundry room upstairs for convenient proximity to the bedrooms. The beautiful design also adds functionality and storage with cabinetry, shelving, and a space for folding clothes.

The clients desired a true master suite, and to provide this, an existing bedroom was converted. As part of the design, double vanities were added to provide ample personal space for getting ready, without the stress of sharing the area. To tie all the home’s beautiful spaces together, the team chose the same sage green color in cabinetry as the kitchen, adorned with the same brass hardware and accents.

The new walk-in master closet features custom built-in organizers with drawers and shelving to bring order to the closet. In addition, the full home renovation included refinishing all interior floors, repairing, and repainting the entire exterior, including installing original windows in the attic, and a full remodel of the existing common bathroom upstairs.
