What’s the difference between a renovation and a remodel?

The terms ‘renovation’ and ‘remodel’ are often used interchangeably, but there is a difference between the two. The key difference to note; how large the updates are. Regardless of the term you use, the Ramos Design Build team is here to help plan and implement home updates you desire.

A renovation refers to restoring or refurbishing something to its original state. Simply put, a kitchen remains a kitchen and a bathroom remains a bathroom, but the aesthetics are updated. The renovation takes place inside existing walls and we’re modernizing the design elements, fixtures, cabinets etc.

A remodel refers to creating something new. This could include bumping out walls or creating additions. A remodel includes changing the physical structure of a home. It can be something as simple as turning a guest bedroom into a home office. Typically, remodeling is a solution to poor home design or the need to create new space.
