Tranquil Whole-Condo Renovation

Recently, the Ramos Construction team had the privilege of working on a whole-house renovation project that saw our clients downsize from a spacious house to a cozy condo. The challenge was to create an inviting and flexible space that could accommodate their colorful art and cherished objects while maintaining a sense of serenity.

One of the first decisions we made in this project was to adopt a neutral and organic palette. Our clients wanted a backdrop that would allow their vibrant art collection and personal treasures to take center stage. The idea was to create a canvas that would complement rather than compete with their possessions.

The condo's original layout was compartmentalized, which didn't align with our clients' vision of an open and airy living space. The wall that once separated the dining room from the kitchen was removed, instantly creating a seamless flow between these two vital areas of the home. This transformation not only visually expanded the space but also improved its functionality and social appeal.

Another significant layout change involved the master bedroom and bathroom. By extending the master bathroom into the bedroom, we were able to create a more spacious and luxurious en suite. This not only enhanced the comfort of the bedroom but also allowed for the incorporation of elegant features and fixtures that our clients had always dreamed of having.

In the heart of the condo, the kitchen took on a classic yet contemporary look with white cabinets. White kitchens are timeless and versatile, providing the perfect canvas for other design elements to shine. With the removal of the dividing wall, the kitchen now offered not only functionality but also stunning views of the bay. We selected celadon, tan, and ocean blue zellige tiles for the backsplash. Originally from Morocco, these handcrafted tiles are known for their organic movement and unique glaze. These tiles served as a visual representation of the serene bay views outside, connecting the interior with the natural world beyond.

No renovation project is without its challenges, and this one was no exception. We encountered issues like level differences in the ceiling and the need to relocate pipes. However, with meticulous planning, attention to detail, and a skilled team, we were able to overcome these hurdles successfully. The end result was a space that not only met but exceeded our clients' expectations.
